Does anyone had there baby with this and do you know what caused it.

He is bottle fed and he feeds well but he does dribble when taking his bottle.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing...but a friend's son had to have surgery on his tongue to clip the skin under the tongue. The doc said he was born that way. It seems that the skin under the tongue was too short and he was having speech problems.

I hope you are able to find out more about this problem with your son and they are able to correct it without too much trouble.

Hugs,

Beth

My son had that same problem. When the skin under the tongue is too far to the tip. They did surgery when he was 12 months old. But really, it isn't like what you think of in the word surgery. It only took about 5 minutes. First, they gave him some medicine to knock him out. They just cut it and then sauderize it. He woke up right after they finished, and was able to eat just fine. There was just a scab for a few days and he needed some tylenol occasionally.

My son was also tongue tied. I breastfeed and it does make that difficult. Our pediatrician clipped his ligament under the tongue when he was 2 weeks old. No surgery, no medicine, no blood. He was able to breastfeed 5 minutes later in the waiting room. If you need more info try these websites:

This last one has pictures too...

Some doctors don't think it is necessary to clip it. Mine did because of the problems we were having feeding. Good Luck
