I was just wondering if my little one can hear me yet? I am excited to start talking to my baby. I hope all is going well with everyone else.

No....sorry, your baby can not hear you yet. I think it is in the 5th or 6th month. You should look it up online or if you have what to expect when you're expecting, it is in there. Soon though he/she will be able to hear!!

In the book 'What to expect when you're expecting' it says by the end of the 7th month and I think I have read that other places also.

Hi,

I think Mom of 2 is right, I was also under the impression that it was in the last tirmester that your baby could start hearing in utero.

I started reading to my son in the last trimester, and talking to him and saying his name while rubbing my belly. It was funny because when he was born he came out screaming but as soon as heard my voice, he stopped crying immediately.

I'm pretty sure that even my dr. told me that the fetus can start hearing and reacting to sound in the 5th month, but doesn't start to recognize or distinguish voices until the 7th month. So while it is good to start talking to the baby as soon as possible, s/he won't know it's you until your in your 7th. I know it is so exciting!!
