I have 3 children 6 year old Ciara 4 year old Missy 2 year old Jade and new baby Kaidie-Lee. Ciara, Missy and Jade have regualar contact with their father, hes a real nice guy but the relationship had to end. They stay with him at weekends. I have a new boyfriend who I have been with 6 months hes called Ian. Before Ian i had a one night stand producing my new baby Kaidie-Leii with Karl, it was mad an drunken. Karl is a horrible man, he has been convicted of drunken disorderly behavior and shop lifting. Ian wants to be the father figure for K-L but Karl has recently requested that he sees k-l regularly or he will batter Ian. WHAT SHOULD I DO. does he have rights being the real father????????

Wow, Nikki!! I feel that father's have a right to see their children, but not fathers who are as you described. I would consult an attorney to find out what you can do to keep this child as far away as possible from such an abusive person. You may also want Ian to get a restraining order against Karl for his protection.

I don't know if I can say much that is going to help in your situation sounds like a regular soap opera(no offense). I also don't really feel I have enough info on Karl to pass judgement, the convictions you mentioned how long ago were they? How old is he? and Are the drunken behavior and stealing things he continues to do and just hasn't been caught? Does he pay child support? I think under almost any circumstances a child has the right to know their father even if that father is a jacka#$. The fact that he wants a relationship with his child is almost rare anymore so that should say something good about him. Also maybe the reason he threatens to beat up your new man is because he wants to see his kid and you would rather have this new man be daddy. Thats enough to make any decent man wanna kick someones a#$. Anyway you may not want my opinion but there it is I hope it was helpful.
