I am 10 weeks pregnant and have gained only 1 pound since becoming pregnant. However, my waistline is starting to expand and I'm guessing in the next few weeks or so I will start to gain more weight. I have always been extremely weight conscious and I'm finding the thought of gaining weight to be very difficult for me. I have always prided myself on eating well and exercising regularly to keep my body thin and fit. Currently I weigh myself each morning to keep track of my progress but I'm starting to freak out about when the scale is going to start going up. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions on how I can stop tormenting myself about it? Should I get rid of the scale or keep it? Please help!

I am 10 weeks pregnant too. I have gained 2-3 pounds I think. You are pregnant!!! You are supposed to gain weight!! I know that you know it but just remember that your focus should be on making sure the baby is healthy not how good you look!! You can still eat healthy and excercise that will make things better for both you and your baby but you SHOULD be gaining weight. Not as much now as in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. I know it is hard to accept that our bodies are going to be getting huge and it will be a while until we are back to our old selves but like I said, the focus should be on having a healthy baby!!

Glad to hear from you!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy first of all! What a wonderful time in your life!

I am 17 and I was very worried about gaining weight when I was pregnant. I was 5 2' 120 lbs before I was pregnant. I would check my wieght every morning and I also eat really healthy and excercise daily. Plus I was in fastpitch softball at the time. When I found out I was pregnant all I could think about was...ehhhhh the weight gaining...ick

Anyways- I found that if I checked my weight every morning I would just get more depressed and more depressed every day...even if it was a 1 lb of weight gain...I knew more was on its way.

I decided personally that I was going to hide my scale...so my boy friend took the scale and he hid it from me...lol....

I then only was able to get my weight at my check-ups at the doctors.

This is just what worked for me and it may not work for you.

I now have a beautiful 5 1/2 month old daughter and I would put the wieght on again any old day! It's worth the weight!!! LOL

I now weigh about 150 and I am starting to get into shape again, I havent been able to excerise because I have had serious back problems after having my baby-I do pilates and it seems to be working and FAST!!!

I think you should not worry about your weight when you are pregnant. Just eat healthy for you and the baby and you will be fine. You will probally lose the weight after the baby any way. Good Luck!

Just a few tips that have worked for me... so far I've gained like 16 pounds and I have like 39 days left.... that may not sound good but it is too me.... I have been very self concious about weight gain!
* Fruit juices cause weight gain fast! I eat a lot of just fresh fruit.
* Eat HEALTHY food... NOT a lot of junk food!
* Do prenatal workouts! My fav- Leisa Hart's "FitMoma"
* Go walking daily... it helps you relax, the baby gets more air and is good for you physically and mentally

GOOD LUCK!! Don't stress about it too much!! If you do you'll feel like your gaining a lot.. fast... just be healthy and you can maintain your weight and size!
