Did anyone have an unmedicated birth?

I'm curious. I had an unmedicated birth (by accident--I had planned on an epidural, but it was too late for anything at all by the time I got to the hospital). With my first DS, I had an epidural & the pushing didn't hurt at all. With this baby, I never felt so much pain in my life and I even suffered a separation in my pelvis. I'm wondering, was the difference the medication? The children weren't so very different in size--8 lbs. 4 oz. and 9 lbs. 1 oz.

Just curious as to everybody's input on this.
