WOW! It's so great to meet someone else who is so positive about drug-free labors. I wanted to do it so badly. I never once asked for anything and when they asked me if I wanted something I said no.
I had done a lot of reading on epidurals and what the meds do to baby (and mommy) before-hand so I knew what I wanted and why. I don't have a problem with people who end up asking for something, but I really wanted to avoid it, if at all possible. I was very thankful that none of the drugs reached the placenta, though. They did tell me that she wouldn't get a drop since they injected the stuff and had her out so quickly. That was a little bit of a relief!
I am very much for having a VBAC. They used to be so common. However, many doctors don't support it these days because of ruptured uterus problems, etc. It seems like once you have a cesarean they just plan that you always will. I hope my doctor will be patient with me and allow me to try it--carefully.
Thanks so much for your encouraging words. We don't have many people on this board anymore so it's so nice to see your post here!!!!
Tight hugs,
~Teacher
