Sarah,

I just met with my OB regarding this exact topic. DH and I would like to have 4 children and we would like to have them close together. I just had an emergency c-section August 26th (totally unexpected) so at my last appointment last week I asked my OB about it. He's one of the finest doctors in the DFW area and very well read. He said there's no reason why I can't have 5 or 6 children--all by c-section. He does it all the time and it's no problem. We also asked if it would be dangerous for me to get pregnant any time soon and he said that it is fine and that the body will handle it. Of course, that's after a thorough check to show that all has healed and my body is doing well. We won't be unhappy if I turn up pregnant in the next few months which would put our babies less than 18 months apart. However, I am solely breastfeeding (no bottles or pacifiers) so it might be more difficult to get pregnant--but not impossible. We aren't trying, but whatever happens happens...

I would suggest you talk to your OB or to a well-known one in your area before making a decision. Good luck!
