Just to add something the other's didn't mention. If the mom is breastfeeding, then she too needs to be treated. They usually give the mom a cream to put on her nipples. Otherwise the child will get rid of it then get it again from the mom. Sometimes breastfeeding needs to be halted until both child and mother are better. Also sometimes it doesn't go away with the first round of antibiotics, it may show its ugly head soon after treatment is done.
