: Hi I have a 12 week old boy who was born by ceaserarean. Everything was good for 12 hours then he stopped breathing. Over the next few days he stopped breathing a few more times and started having seizures. The doctors have no idea what has caused this but have ruled out epilepsy. He is currently on a medication called "dilantin". He is perfectly healthy in every other way and is reaching his milestones like any other baby. My question is: Are there any other parents out there that have gone through this or someting similar? I would love to hear from you...
Hi. I can relate to what you are going through. My son was born Sept. 2002 by natural childbirth. He wasn't breathing when he was born but they got him going within a few seconds. The cord was around his neck and had a full knot in it and it was a vacuum delivery. He was fine for 2 days and then he had a seizure and a couple days later another one. They did a CAT scan which showed nothing and an EEG which was abnormal. They also did an MRI and found a small hemmorage in his brain. But the neurologist told us that it was not bleeding anymore and if he had anymore seizures he would treat it as a separate incident. One thing the pediatrician said to us is that it's not the seizures that are the concern it's the cause that they are concerned about. Today at 15 months our son is as normal as any boy could be and all of that is a distant memory. Good luck to you in finding out what might be the cause. I had to switch doctors to find anything out. My best advice is to find a good doctor and don't stop asking questions. It's YOUR child and you have every right to know what is happening and why. Hope this helps.
