Paxil can actually cause panic attack and even more anxiety in some people. If you think you "need more Paxil", it could be that it's causing some of your problems and taking even more will only make them worse. It's incredibly difficult to quit taking as well. Go to www.quitpaxil.org (click on chat on top, then on the older forum), or www.paxilprogress.org or www.paxil.bizland.com for more info on the withdrawal process. Your baby will experience this withdrawal cold turkey, which is the worst. NO antidepressant is safe to take during pregnancy - it is extrememly irresponsible for your doctor to tell you that. SSRIs (Prozac, Luvox, Celexa, Zoloft and Paxil) have been linked with a much higher mortality rate in rat pup studies and is responsible for premature births and low birth weight infants, which is dangerous. Do a full search on these problems - don't listen to a few people on a message board or your doctor, who doesn't seem to know much about Paxil. It's much a more serious and much more powerful drug than most know. I know, I lived through HELL trying to get off it and my sister had a massive brain bleed (stroke) after 3 days on the drug. Serotonin is a "powerful vasocinstrictor" - NOT good for your baby to have so much more of it available to it's brain and yours. Also, Paxil will be present in breast milk, in case you're thinking of breast feeding. I've read tens of thousands of Paxil horror stories and the World Health Organization has gotten TWICE as many complaints about it and other SSRIs as any other drug in its history. Is this really something a fetus should be exposed to? Certainly not. Use your common sense. Many women won't even take aspirin while pregnant. Always err on the side of caution. Good luck.
