: I have heard that cats can be dangerous around babies for many reasons like their fine fur, toxic litter boxes, and more. Is this true? Is there a good website to read some facts about this topic? Thank you! Cats adapt very well but at first, they might be squitish and suspicious of the new baby in the house. However I have seen many families where the cat was able to adapt and accept the new arrival without major problems. You have to get used to being a parent, so do the cats with having another person in the house. I think most problems with cats lie with the owner who becomes overwealmed with the new baby and ends up giving the cats away because he/she cannot care for the animal like before. The same goes for dogs, my friend just gave away one of her dogs because she felt she couldn't cope with a baby and 2 dogs. If you have support from family, I think caring for the cats and the baby is not a problem. You will have to be more attentive in the beggining but if that is what it takes to keep baby and pets, then why not?
