excema????

My 4 and a half month old started to get really dry skin on his cheeks, and now keeps scratching at his ears until they are raw.

Has anyone got any suggestions on what is the best treatment and maybe what is causing this? He has not had any skin problems before and is only having homemade veges anf baby rice and fruit.
