: I would like start teaching my daughter to swim as early as possible. How early is too early? She is 6wks now. Is it okay to take in the pool now to get her used to it? She loves her baths every morning, and it's so hot out these days. Is the Chlorine alright for her skin do you think? I don't think I would put her head under yet though.

I would think that six weeks is too early. When my baby was about 3 months old, we used to fill up the bathtub and my hubby would sit in it with him. My baby loved that and we still do that now regularly. I think the earliest a child can learn to swim is 2 years. Any attempts before that is just to make them get comfortable in the water. We also take my son (he's 10 months old) to the swimming pool in our community centre now and then.
