Bottle Weaning

I have a 9 mos old and wants to start weaning from the bottle. He drinks juices/water from the sippy cup but, most of the time he doesn't swallow it all. When did your baby gain the skill to suck the liqiud from a spill proof cup? When did your baby drink from a straw?
