diabetics in my family.....

Hello all,
Sorry another question for you.
A few years ago my husband met hes father and half sister for the first time in years.
Well it turned out hes half sister became diabetic at the age of 13.

Then 2 months ago like my husband i met my dad's side of the family and my cousin is a diabetic too shes only 16 and has had it since she was 5, She has a bad case of it and has to inject herself 4 times a day.

Im worried now as its on both sides of the family do you think i should get my kids tested?
and let my doctor know?
