I wasn't sure after reading your post if you were going to use the crib, so I would just like to say that you shouldn't. Standards for them have been updated, and the old cribs can be dangerous. I would also think long and hard about using the mattress. If there was any moisture where it was stored, there could be mold or mildew growing inside it where you would never see it. The safest thing to do for your baby, though it is costly, would be to get a new (or newer) crib and mattress. Kelli
