: basement in the open air and not in storage bags. I am concerned about microbes and other bacteria that may be harboring inside the mattress that my newborn may inhale while sleeping on it. My mother did use a crib pad on the mattress and the mattress does appear to be in good shape, but I am still concerned. Is their a "life expectancy" for crib mattresses?
