The heart is divided into 4 chambers. There are 4 valves, a right and left atrium, right ventricle and left ventricle. The septum divides these. In more simple terms, your daughter has a hole in her heart on the septum of her ventricle, either her right or left ventricle. It is the size of a dime. I would not be concerned, just have regular checkups to check the progress. Usually, a hole the size of a dime will close in about a month or even weeks. If it was a large hole, it would close until she is 2 years old and, if it did not close, surgery would be performed to patch the hole. I could almost promise you that it will close. Also, if he does not take the time to speak to you and in terms that you would understand, I would change doctors. Some doctors are jerks. Good luck. Keep me posted.
