How long should you let him scream? This is mho: until he stops. That means trying this when you have time on your side, not his. If you try it and then have to go somewhere so you take him out before he stops screaming, he will always think you’ll be coming in ‘soon’. So pick a time when you have stuff you want to get done at home (like a shower lol) and look on the bright side. Every time he screams you can have some time out as well. Good luck!
