I would let him scream until he stops even if it takes 1/2 hour. It sounds harsh but if you are meeting his needs in other ways with plenty of love, it will not traumatize him. I finally got rid of the tantrums in my girls even the terrible 2 little girl and don't throw anymore tantrums because they know now that I will let them cry until they are done so now they know they can't get away with it. The reason why I choose a crib or room is because it is a safer place to let them throw their fits then if they were to be in the kitchen and hit their head on the hard floor. :
