My little girl did the same thing. But for us it was switching her from her bassinet to her crib. At about three months it was time to switch and she did the same thing, as soon as we would lay her down in the crib she would cry and fuss until we would get her and as soon as we put her in her bassinet she would fall asleep. And if we moved her while she was sleeping back into the crib she would almost instantly wake up and start screaming. It was just that she was so comfortable with the bassinet and the crib was unfamiliar. She associated the bassinet with sleeping. So one or two nights when she was very tired I put her in the crib and stood by her and cuddled her until she fell asleep. She eventually just got used to it. I just didnt leave her the first couple of nights until was asleep so she could become comfortable with the crib. She is seven months now and usually when i put her down she just pulls up her thumb and falls asleep. Its her special quiet space. I hope this could work for you.
