You are definitly not alone!! My son is 14 weeks and like you he's my first. Matthew is still not sleeping through the night and wasn't going sleeping until around 10 pm wich i think is too late. he then will get up at 4 for a quick feed and then sleep untill 7 am. He was fine untill about a week ago where he is cranky all evening and then won't even go down in his crib. The only thing he would do is cuddle in my arms or breastfeed. the moment i put him down he would scream again.

I read an article that said that i should just put him down in his crib say good night shut the door and let him cry. try for 30 mins and then see what happens. well, i'm not really a fan of this but i tryed it last night and he did scream for a bit but within 20 mins he was fast asleep. He still woke up at 4 but at least he did get some sleep. It was very hard to sit and listen to him cry but the book said its better for them to cry and then fall asleep than not have enough. the book also says that the next night you do it they should cry for less time and same goes for next night untill they have no problem. Now i don't know if this is the best thing to do i'm just going by the book and it seemed to work. Its trial and error for me as its my first and like you i don't have alot of people around for good advice.
If you want you can e-mail me maybe we can be sounding boards for eachother.
good luck!!
