My little boy is just 12 weeks old. He had been doing really well with his sleeping up until the last couple of weeks. He goes to bed at 7pm and sleeps right through until approximately 4:30am when he wakes up for a feed. After this feed he will not go back to sleep unless I cuddle him, otherwise he just cries. I know that he is tired and not just awake for the day, but even so he is extremely restless and keeps waking up, so that I have to settle him again – he is generally fully awake for the day at 6:30am. I have tried waking him up at 10pm for a last feed, but he either won’t wake up, or he just is not interested in the feed. He is also being quite fussy at a lot of his feeds, and even though he is hungry, he cries and arches his back and won’t take the bottle. When he finally does take the feed, he finishes the whole bottle, so I know that he is hungry, it’s just difficult to get him to start the feed. I am totally worn out from being up at 4:30 every day and can’t seem to see an end to this. I did try leaving him to cry once to see if he would go back to sleep on his own, but he just cried and cried. I do feel that he is too little for the cry it out method. Any suggestions on how to avoid these early mornings please?
