Ditto on Steve (Hanna's Dad)'s sentiments about having a 6 month old that still wakes frequently at night and early in the morning. I know that doesn't probably bring you much comfort, but I am working on solving Alexandra's sleep issues, so I can relate and say you're not alone. I agree with you on the letting him cry thing.

Here are three books, all with different views on infant sleep issues:

The No Cry Sleep Solution
Secrets of the Baby Whisperer
Parenting the Fussy Baby and High Need Child

In there somewhere you can probably find a plan that will work for you. Also, check out www.babycareadvice.com. I've been working with Rowena Bennett, the site's founder, on a settling plan for Alexandra, and she might have some thoughts to share with you on both the sleeping and eating subjets.

On the fussing while eating stuff - have you checked into any medical reasons why this might be happening? What tipped me off is the arching his back thing. Does he have any other symptoms that might indicate GERD or food intollerances? Such as frequent spitting up, strange looking / smelling bms, a red rash around the anus, stuffy nose, sandpaper-like rash on the face, arms or legs, etc....?

I've got lots of experience with food intollerances, so if you need more information on this subject let me know.

Best of luck and keep us posted!
