I don't believe you can spoil a baby. But I wonder if maybe you are misinterpreting his cues. Possibly his crying and whining is due to tiredness rather than boredom. At 5 months he will only be able to handle 1.5 to 2 hours awake at any one time before he starts to become tired. Does he generally fall asleep in your arms while you are walking? If he does maybe this is why he wants you to walk around with him.
