I was told by the nurses when my child was on the NICU following his birth that whenever a child has a temp...the first thing to do is to remove layers of clothing. They sometimes get hot because we have them over dressed. Then if the temp is still up, give them some infant tylenol and check the temp again. If still up, I would bring your friend's baby to a doctor. I agree...they cannot refuse treatment because you don't have an insurance card, but you may have to pay for the services rendered.

I hope you get some resolution to this baby's condition soon, for your sake as well as the baby's!!
