Hi Lorraine
Waters normally break (if not medically assisted earlier) during 2nd stage of labour. However waters can break prematurely during 1st stage of labour. There are rare but serious complications that can develop when the water rupture prematurely and this should always be checked out medically as soon as possible.

If you haven't done so already I would really recommend that you discuss this possibility with your doctor beforehand.
