hi sue, i had the same problem and cut out the dairy in my diet. this helped. i also did some research and found out that sometimes it can have something to do with the balance of foremilk (the first milk that comes out) and hindmilk. In women who have large quantity of milk sometimes they get more foremilk before hindmilk starts flowing. This is fine but when you change breasts and the baby only feeds for a little while because he basically filled up on the first breast, he is getting only foremilk. The foremilk can cause extreme gassyness. I started only feeding one breast at a meal and my sons gassiness went away all together and made for a much more comfortable baby.
My explanation is VERY simplified, I am not a doctor just someone who had the same problem and this is what fixed it for me. I used a lactation consultant as well. I also suggest calling your local la leche league they are a mountain of advice.

I'm on my way out at the moment but i will try and get the links to some info that i found very helpfull and will post later on.

Take care.
