: My 13 month old son, 2 weeks ago, has started head butting, ONLY ME. I think that he seems to think this is funny, (sometimes he smiles, sometimes he just looks me dead in the eyes) but he has a very hard head, and it actually hurts ME pretty bad, especially when he gets me on the temple. He's headbutting so hard that it can give me a headache for a few minutes if he gets me in the right spot. My daughter never did this. : I'm sure it's not a self soothing mechanisim because he does it when he's fully awake and it is very purposeful. I imagine it could be attention getting, but he's already got my attention as he does it when I'm holding him...but once again he does it to ONLY ME. : Any thoughts...experience....knowledge of others who have had similar experiences? Oh, and should I be at all concerned that he is hurting HIS head? Thanks in advance. Hi Debbie, how are you? I posted many times asking advice for the same thing. MY son did it to throw fits. He banged his on the doors, walls, and floors, my knees, my chest, whatever or whoever was nearby. I took him to the doctors they said he wouldn't do it hard enough to actually hurt himself, and that he'd grow out of it. He did jus about a month ago. (Thank God) Now he bites! The only advice I can give is to leave the room, when Donovan saw me leave he immediately stopped and followed me. Also redirection to a different activity helped. Nothing I did totally stopped it though, He grew out of it himself. Good Luck! -------Jamie
