stupid AF showed a week late... when should I plan to use OV test strips?

Hi all,

Well I must say I'm beyond disappointed, AF was due on last Friday (since stopping the pill in Jan. I've had 3 24 day cycles, one 29 day cycle, and now the most recent was 31 days!!!) I was so hopeful that this was our month, but after a negative test last night and then my period starting very lightly today I guess better luck next month.

That said I have no idea when to start using my OV test strips... apparently my cycle is irregular and ranges between 24-31 days. Should I start using the strips once my period stops, or before? I purchased them online and have 15 so hopefully that will be enough for this month!
