: I agree, talk with your doctor. I have a friend who has been on it for a VERY long time--possibly over a year. So, not all doctors would "never" prescribe it for over a few months. However, he keeps it on a very low dosage.
People who are on clomid for longer than 4 months are not seeing the correct doctor. They need to see a fertility specialist, no better yet, a reproductive endocrinologist. If you have not ovulated by 200 mgs of clomid (starts at 50 mgs and goes up in incriments of 50 or 100) than clomid will NOT work for you. Instead, you need to start injectables and a regular ob/gyn CAN NOT give you ingectibles.
Also, when on clomid you should be monitored. A doctor who just gives you clomid is not doing his/her job. You should have ultra sounds monitoring your follicles and a post coital test to see how your cm is doing since clomid can dry you up. Also, a HcG shot is recommended to help ovulation occur after a mature follicle is indicated through u/s.
IF, your doctor does not monitor you, I would find someone who does. If that is not possible, than use pre-seed to help with cm.
Good luck! If you have ANY clomid / infertility questions, please ask. I've been through it all!
