: Okay, well, I had gained 7 lbs. by my FIRST appointment (5 or 6 weeks, I can't remember exactly). I was seen right away b/c of previous miscarriages.
: I managed to hold steady for the next month and didn't gain anything. After that, I gained maybe 4-6 lbs. a month. But I still weighed "too much" b/c of the initial gain, etc.
: I tried everything. I did pregnancy aerobics all the way up until 4 weeks before my due date, stopping only when I had very severe spotting and once when I had pre-term labor. In addition to the aerobics, I walked every day. Somewhere around my 8th month I stopped doing the aerobics daily & only did them a couple times a week, but I kept up the walking.
: I tried to be good about eating. I ate yogurt, fruits, vegetables. But sometimes I would be ravenous and would pig out. The thing is, after one day's pigout, I would gain at least 3 or 4 lbs. It didn't make any sense. One day can't garner that kind of weight gain.
: And at the end...my god...I was gaining 3 or 4 lbs. in a week. I ended up 55 lbs. heavier than when I started. I wanted to die about this weight gain.
: BUT...now I'm only 8 days postpartum, and I have lost (hold onto your seat here) THIRTY pounds. Thirty pounds in one week! So you know what that means, chickie? It means that not all pregnancy weight gain is within our control. Much of it is water, and no matter how much we may drink, we still gain; no matter how well we try to eat or how much we exercise.
: I know how you feel. You're beating yourself up. DON'T. It is PROBABLY WATER. Just trust me on this one. Your body wants a nice cushion of water now, and wants to build up a little fat. At times, it may seem out of your control & a constant struggle. But as long as you try to eat sensibly, then any gain is a gain you could not have avoided. Try to eat as many unprocessed foods as possible and up your protein intake vs. useless carbs. But DON'T kick yourself about an initial weight gain nor be terrified that you will end up a huge cow by the end. In truth, you may end up huge, but if you're being sensible, then it will come off afterward. I promise!
: Feel good,
