: I dont know if I should pack up the kids and leave to San Antonio(2 hrs away) The storm has moved right in our path. Would we be safe somehwere else? It is only a Cat.1 but still.
I grew up on the beach in NJ and have been through several hurricanes. My mother always just stayed put even when they were telling us to evacuate. I was terrified staying in the house during the storm and wish my mom has decided to leave. The house would shake and rattle and water was on the street in front of our house, it really scared me. But she is a tough cookie and wouldn't go. I suggest for the sake of the kids, evacuate if they recommend it, at least so their not scared. Anything else you can replace if the worst happens.
