I don't think it's unusual to have contractions following a trauma. I noticed during my pregnancy that even when I was emotionally upset, the baby would get quiet and then I'd have a day of BH's. Luckily, BH's are almost never strong enough to kick off "real" labor. However, they ARE strong enough to be scary. So I know how you feel. Drink a ton of water these next couple of days and try to physically take it easy. If the contractions continue regularly or get closer together, call your doctor, but they will most likely slow down on their own.

Try to take it very, very easy, Teacher!
