Hey Candi,
You are NOT alone where this is concerned =( My hubby and I pay for our insurance out of our pocket. $262 / month for BC/BS. WE don't have a maternity rider either. Our insurance lady even suggested not to get it because it wasn't worth it. It was going to cost us over $100 / month extra, you couldn't use it for the first 12 months and the most it would pay out is $2400. So, that's why we didn't get it. I also tried getting medicaid, but that was a no go. We make way too much money. It's crazy the way this state works (IND), they either pay all of it or nothing, there's no happy medium. So, we are just lucky that we have a good understanding doctor. We're just going to pay him whatever we can until he's paid off. The good thing about our insurance is though, if we do run into complications (c-section, etc) our insurance will kick in and start paying. And once the baby is here, he / she will be covered immediately. I wish you the best of luck!
Hugs,
Becky =)
