I know how you feel. My son is 5 months and I have the same problem. My husband is a lawyer and works very long hours, sometimes weekends.
Usually, I have a routine I go through when he is awake. He will usually go in his swing for awhile, then his exersaucer, and then his playpen with all his toys, which gives me a chance to get some things done.
I will also lay on the bed with him and read him a couple of stories. If it's not too cold out, I will take him for a walk outside. If it's too cold out, I will take him for a walk around our condo complex, lobby etc. He gets to see a lot of people, look at plants etc.
Sometimes I will put a music cd on with lullabies or a jazz cd and will sing along to the songs while he is in his playpen. He just loves when I sing. Maybe he's laughing at me...ha ha
