I have 2 babies, 11 months and 22 months. They both love their sippy cups, NOW- lol. At first they had no idea what the deal was. With both kids they started off with me holding them without the valve in them. That way they get the ideaa that they can get something out of them. Don't tip too much or they choke and it isn't enjoyable. Straws are really tricky too. I was having trouble until we tried a juice box. You know when you squeeze them and they leak from the straw... well that is what we did to the kids. If you squueeze a bit of the juice into their mouth, and then let them have it right after and work on it they might get the idea. I am also with everyone else on the age thing. Why is your Dr so big on going bottleless? Anytime 12-18 moths when they don't want it so much anymore seems like a better way than forcefully by a year. Good luck, I hope my ideas help you a bit in the right direction.
