: My son is sleeping a lot better than he used to. But now we have a new problem. He has dinner at 6 or 7PM (cereal, veggies &/or fruits). He goes to bed at around 8. He used to wake up for a bottle at 11 PM. Now he still wakes up once but it is at a different time each night. We've had him waking at 1.30 one night, 2 the next night, 11 PM the next, yesterday straight at 6.30 in the morning, and today 5.00 He goes back to sleep right after feeding and is up for the day at 7.30AM . He will NOT go back to sleep until I nurse him or give him that bottle. I don't mind doing it if it is 11 PM or if it is after 5 or 6 in the morning, but I hate to feed him at 2 or 3 or 4. I am very grateful that he is waking up only once in 11 hours, but how do I regulate it? I tried giving him that bottle at 10.30 one night but he screamed murder and didn't want it.
: Steve, the king of baby sleep problems - I call upon you to interpret this situation. Any other ideas from others are welcome too.
What are you feeding him at his first waking? How many ounces? Also, have you tried giving him his dinner a little later? Instead of 6 or 7, maybe closer to 8 and put him to bed right after eating even if you have to feed him more times during the day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and then bedtime). I know some babies don't wake up out of hunge and some just wake up for the heck of it, but, if your baby wakes up and does eat and then goes to sleep that means he probably is hungry or else he wouldn't even eat. There are some babies that are going through growing spurts and have huge appetites. This may be the case with yours. That was the case with mine.
