: Hi there. This is my first time posting, and after reading several of your chats, I am hoping that you might be able to help. My son, 5 mos., has been breast fed since birth. We tried introducing a bottle at 8 weeks, and he would not take it. We tried then until he was 4 1/2 mos. and still no go. He has been trying to drink from a starter sippy cup, and gets a bit down. My question is, how old are most babies when the can drink from a cup full time? I am to return to work FT when he is 7 1/2 mos, and am worried. Thanks

You mention he drinks a little from a sippy cup, I would just give him a spill-proof sippy cup. My toddlers started drinking from a cup at 5 months and am sure there are many babies who have to. The earlier you introduce the cup, the less difficult it will be later when he is older.

At about 7 months, my toddlers were able to hold the cup on their own and drink from it without any help from me.

Hope this is helpful.
