: Im still having problems with my carseat. It is time for front facing, and Im so confused. We have the alpha omega. Anyone know do you have to use the tether strap. Whats its purpose? Since it only came with 1 tether, do we have to buy another one for my husbands car? What happens when he ride with others who dont have a tether belt?? I've seen other car seats in parking lots, where parents just have the lap belt thro it?? And when does the base come off. Im trying to read the manual, but its so confusing? I cant seem to figure any of it out. HELP!
I totally agree that the instruction manuals that come with carseats are VERY confusing.
We have the Eddie Bauer 3in1 carseat. Our tether anchor in our car (Honda Accord) is in the center of the backseat, but it is recommended that the seat is positioned behind the passenger seat in the back (Go figure!). It seems that we will just be using the shoulder/lap belt with it forward facing and with the base.
Our carseat recommends you use the base until the child is over 40lbs, at that point the base comes off and it becomes a booster.
Each seat is different, if I were you, I would call the seat's manufacturer to double check. It's worth it to find out the correct way to use YOUR seat. Nothing is more important than the safety of your baby. Check the manual for a 1-800 number.
