I have had homebirths with both of mine,so now personal experience with it,but my freinds have said it does not hurt at all.The difficult part was staying still during contractions while the line is inserted. The only other problems mentioned were that the epi stalled labor,so pitocin was needed. And one mentioned a fever/epi headache.I think a lot depends on the doctor giving you the epi.
Some methods to ease labor pain until you get the epi:getting in water, walking, rocking, sitting on the toilet/labor ball. I love pregnancy, but was never to keen on the birthing part.My only wish for the next one is to have a baby that is a wee bit smaller, lol. My dd was 9.6 and my son was 9.8.My friends 19yo just had a dd that was 5.14. I can't imagine holding a tiny baby like that after my big ones.
