: : Hi ladys!! I am not a mom YET, but I am pregnant. I thought this would be the place to post this question since most of you guys have already given birth. I just wanted to know, does an epidural hurt really bad? I know I want one, but I think I am dreading it more than chilbirth itself!! Any responses would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

: Girl...I was induced and those contractions hurt so freaking bad (not to scare you) but I was BEGGING the Nurse and Dr. for my epidural. I had to wait only about an hour until lab work came back but I wanted it Immediately!! I laid soooo still and was like please just put it in!!! PLEASE!! I remember saying SHIT real loud at one point but it must not have hurt to bad b/c I can't remember the pain of the epidural at all! But I'll never forget those contraction pains!! It is totally amazing how fast it works and how wonderful you feel after you get it! It's awesome! I was mad b/c I went through all that and ended up having a c-section so I could have avoided the contractions all together. Anyway the epidural is really nothing at all!!! You'll be begging for it I promise! lol

I figure the contraction pains will distract me from the epidural, but isn't it hard to stay still while having contractions? I'm not sure why but the pain of the contractions doesn't scare me too much, mabey because it is a natural pain, but having a needle put in your back isn't a natural pain, mabey that's why it scares me so much. Thanks for telling it like it is though, that really helps.
