I sure hope so! My dh isn't the most fatherly either. He loves the kids, but lol,can only handle them for so long.Like I always told him-Kids are a lot of work, and is not a sitting-on-your-butt type of job.
Now his family on the other hand would gladly kill me just to get their son and grandkids back in the homeland to be raised *properly*.They always try to bribe dh with a house, money, and so on.Even if my dh just went for a visit they would try very hard to keep him and the kids, which is why I won't ever let the kids go there. I would have no way to get out with them.
Unfortunately there is little you can do to prevent an international child kidnapping, and even less when it comes to getting them back, but you still should do all the steps recommended..Regardless of what he says keep all the childs records in a safe place.Be aware that even if you block the issuance of a US passport, the other parent can usually get one from their coutries embassy.Plus in most cases of divorce the non-custodial parent gets to take the child to their homeland if he/she wants,or atleast have 2-3 weeks unsupervised visits during the summer..
Personally I don't think I will ever feel safe until my in-laws are buried!
Again, best wishes.I hope it never comes to any of this. And good luck with school!
