: Hi,

: I do write for a living, though I'm not sitting home writing novels or anything like that. In fact, unless you are able to get to various DoD intranet websites, you likely won't be able to see any of my work.

: I write all kinds of stuff for my Govt. clients - software manuals, specifications, proposals, etc.

: While it's not romantic, I do get paid to write - which is exactly what I want to do. I love my work - and being happy at work goes a long way towards being happy at home.

: I also do a little writing at home - for myself and in the future, for my son. Someday (I haven't decided exactly when,) he's gonna get a nice book detailing everything I was feeling from the very day I saw that plus sign on the home pregnancy test through the day I stop writing.

: 4 years later, I'm still doing it. Not every day - sometimes not even every week, but I do keep up with it fairly well. It's fun to go back and read that stuff from the "old days". I try to keep it light. I have a few entries from the early days of his life when I was up at all hours. I remember being frustrated, but I was able to keep a light perspective on things so he doesn't read this someday and think I had any regrets about having him.

: Sometimes, the things I've written seem like they came from someone else. Those moments are strangely wonderful. Weird, very hard to describe, but cool nonetheless.

: Please pardon my verbosity. Once I get on a roll, it's hard to stop. It's a writer's curse, I guess.

Hey I work for a govt contractor too. Right now most of our staff works at FBI on the PKI project. Some work at Lockheed on Biometrics. We also worked on a large project for DoD at Ft. Meade until they shut down the software engineering center. They riffed most of the staff and contractors and moved the remainder to Belviour and Monmouth. But... we've been sold to another contractor and I'm about to be gainfully umemployed.
