Hi Julie

The decision to circumcise of not is often based on culture and customs rather than a physical need. World wide only approx 20% of males are circumcised. Circumcision rates in the US are approx 60%, where as is Australia they are around 5%. Making a decision to have a baby circumcised or not is a much tougher decision if you live in the US than it would be in Australia because there's a lot of pressure to stick with local customs.

I didn't have my son cirumcised for two reasons. I believe the foreskin was put there for a reason (otherwise males would be born without it) and that it's his body not mine, and I did not feel I had the right to choose what his body will look like, particularly as there is little medical evidence to support circumcision and lots to oppose it.
