: I'm not Phil, but I do a lot of writing for work and used to do a lot more. Not too horribly long ago I was a radio journalist. Now I'm just a PR flack but I write a lot of news releases.
: I think the best thing your girl can do at this age is exactly what she's doing -- read and write. As she reads more and more she'll learn better ways to write. Make sure she tries to read as high a quality of writing as possible, even if that's stuff like Judy Blume. Obviously you should encourage her to sit down and write as much as possible, no matter what the topic. Perhaps you could encourage her to write a daily journal?
: As she gets older you might look for a creative writing class for her. Maybe it's something the two of you could do together?
So Phil is not the only writer on this board?Thank you for your input, Steve. I never thought of the two of us doing creative writing together, though...that is a great idea. My daughter was beginning to write a journal but it was not exactly a daily journal - she has been writing about all the fun things we did this summer.
