Napping Problems

My 8 months old daughter shows no signs of being tired throughout the day. Typically she wakes up just after 6am and I put her down for a nap by 9am whether I have any "tired signs" or not. I also have a 3 year old so I can't wait much longer for her to go down to sleep or we won't be out the door until it's time to come back for lunch. Sometimes she cries for a couple of minutes when I put her down, sometimes she squeels, sometimes you don't hear a peep. Usually sleeps until about 10 or 10:30am for am nap. In the afternoon I put her back down around 2 or 2:30 and I can never tell if she'll go down peacefully or put up a fight. She'll sleep until 4:30 or 5 on that nap. My big problem is she rarely shows signs of being tired but I know she needs the sleep. I can't tell if I'm causing the crying at naptime by putting her down at the wrong times - maybe she's overtired or not tired enough. I just can't tell! Any suggestions? She definitely needs the naps with as long as she sleeps once she gets there!
