Hey-- great news for you guys! I am sooooo happy to hear that things are going better for you. I hope your psycho neighbor thing is still on hold thanks to that handy jail cell.
I am a Christian but I will admit that sometimes the sinful part of me still comes through. Christians are still a work in progress. I can't remotely say that I'm always in God's right standing.
Yes, I know of the Harvest Crusade. Our church participated in one last year (with a bunch of other churches). I didn't go (time conflict with the kids) but I did watch the video presentation at church on it. That sounded like a pretty darn powerful ministry tool.
Your husband is starting on a great new path. But just becoming a Christian doesn't mean that all the old crap that you had before just goes away. It's dealing with it in a new light. Realizing that what you were doing yesterday really wasn't as secret as you thought. Realizing that what we are doing now is affecting everyone around us-- even people that we haven't met. Scarey really. But exciting too.
I commend you both-- this is a complete life change (or at least you try to make the narrow path-- and pray that God is taking care of the rest).
What are your thoughts? Falling away from Christianity is pretty easy too-- I hope that both of you can come to that realization.
A good friend of mine started following God after her abusive husband started on the road to Christianity. Everything was peachy- they remarried and had a couple kids. But 8 years later an old friend gave him some pot, and his life went downhill since. He never has returned (left his wife and kids years ago).
It's not easy but it's worth it. I could tell you more but I think that a word of encouragement and a dose of reality should speak for itself. Congratulations!
