: I am pregnant(my first), and due soon, so I was wondering about a few things. I thought this would be the place to post it since most of you seem to already have babies.
: 1)Umbillical cord- How exactly to you care for it and how long does it take to fall off? And, this may sound dumb, but do they leave that little clamp thing on there?
: 2)Circumcision- I am having a boy and plan to get him circumsised, but I know NOTHING about it. Someone told me they put something plastic on there that falls off after a few days, but I never heard of this. Is it true? Also, what do you do to take care of it?
: 3)Baths- How long after baby is born do you bathe him/her? And how often do you bathe a baby(besides if get sick on himself or something, just typically).
: Thanks everyone in advance for any help. I know the people in the hospital will tell me these things, I would just like to know beforehand. Thanks! :)
well to answer the first question the imbillical cord will fall off on it's own after about a week to 10 days. u dont do anythign to it, just leave it be, and make sure the diapers do not rub against it( i always had the new born diapers(pampers) that has the round area for the belly button)
to your second question , well as for a curcomsided baby sorry for the bad spelling, just hvaing a bad day........ it probably does hurt but i have heard that it is much much better to get it done rihgt away after birth so that they they dont remember it. it is cleaner for them to have it done in the long run
and third for the baths, i do it once a day for both my kids. beca;'s a droller so she always needs a wipe around her neck but i also put a bib there and when it gets to bad i wipe her then bathe her.
new borns only need it once every 2 days. but it is up to u, the hoter it is the nicer it is for them to have a bath so they can cool down too.
best of luck
