: 1) I am breastfedding and I wanted to know if it is normal to have sore breasts and some pain in the first few weeks? The baby is latching on correctly, but she eats so much that my nipples are not keeping up too well with all the feedings. By the way, my little one gained one pound 10 ounces in the first week she was home, she eats a lot! :) Is this disconfort going to improve with time?
: 2)My dh wants to take the baby out and I am a little reluctant because she is only a week and a few days old. I suggested we waited until she was at least a month old, but he thinks I am being over protective and I need to get out of the house. When did you start taking your baby out (grocery shopping, church, etc), and am I being paranoid? I guess I am scared she will get a bug or something and get sick.
: 3) My little one is still small but I am already sad because she seems to be growing up too fast. She lost her umbilical cord yesterday and I was sad about it. Does anyone else feels like their kids are growing up fast? I just wish she could be a newborn for a little longer. Maybe it is all the hormones getting to me hugh?
: Thanks for all the input, Sally 2
Congratulations on your little baby.
If your nipplrs are sore, try Purelan from Medela. It helps. I had sore nipples when I had my second baby, but that was from incorrect latching. A few visits to the breastfeeding clinic fixed that problem. Make sure that she is latching on well.
About taking baby about - that is a purely personal choice. I did not take my baby out for 3-4 weeks because I was breastfeeding him all the time, and there was no schedule. My baby also cried a lot in the first few weeks and I was not ready to take him out in that situation and get more stressed. They and you have all your life ahead to go out. I did take him out into the yard for a breath of fresh air now and then.
It is an understatement to say that a baby grows fast. My little boy is now a complete little human being who is entirely mobline, has an attitude, teeth, feelings of joy, sadness, anger and a love for the outdoors. And to think that just 10 months ago he was a helpless little newborn baby. ENJOY every moment of being with your baby. They grow fast like a weed.
